Strategy. Approach. Implement.
Advance your portfolio management process to stay efficient and in compliance.
Portfolio management is a hot topic in the financial industry. Unfortunately, many ‘modern day’ portfolio management methodologies do not subscribe to the true definition of portfolio management. Today’s emphasis seems to fall more in line with new product development, innovation and broker inventory management rather than focusing on the framework and key disciplines of true portfolio management.
The elements of portfolio management may vary slightly from one organization to another, but the fundamentals and best practices should be universal. Portfolio management is a continuous process that starts with establishing goals and guidelines that govern the overall selection and management of the portfolio. The use and constant evaluation of a portfolio management cycle provides portfolio managers with a feedback loop for understanding risk and return. It’s not always about picking bonds – it’s about generating portfolio level returns commensurate with portfolio level risks.
