LOCATION: 5710 Mineral Point Road
Bachelor Degree in Journalism or related discipline required. Project management training preferred. Eight years journalism experience required (preferably in financial services). Three years project management experience a plus. Experience with both print and digital business-to-business publications preferred. Experience with technical, research-oriented publications preferred. A thorough knowledge of publishing and circulation trends along with the needs of a multi-channel content delivery model is important. Position requires strong writing/editing skills, plus public speaking and presentation skills. Position also requires supervisory skills, team-building, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills. An ability to plan production schedules and meet multiple deadlines is also important. A working knowledge of credit unions and/or financial services is preferred. Work closely with Publisher and Advertising sales group to meet publishing revenue goals. Membership in publishing and editorial organizations is recommended. Ability to travel 30-50 days annually.
Edit all content of Credit Union Magazine, E-Scan, and newsletters. Coordinate and maintain editorial calendar that includes all of publishing’s digital and print publications, research reports, and best practice reports. Design the calendar so that publishing products complement and promote each other.
Responsible for each publication’s editorial mission and goals. Determine the degree to which each publication is meeting the needs of its target audience. Ensure most efficient use of staff, contributors, freelancers, and other resources. Work with design to enhance editorial content.
Promote multiple content-delivery channels and feedback mechanisms within each publication. Delivery channels and feedback mechanisms would include Web sites, social media, video, white boards, file-sharing functions, and customized formatting where appropriate. Monitor reader/subscriber feedback to make sure each publication meets the needs of its audience. Meet quarterly with Editorial Advisory Board via conference call.
Oversee editorial and production plans for Environmental Scan product suite. Oversee production to make sure E-Scan report meets all deadlines. Generate and monitor feedback from CEOs and board members of credit unions to determine critical issues to be addressed in the E-Scans products. Present E-Scan overviews at credit union conferences and to individual credit union planning sessions.
Act as editorial liaison between publishing and all CUNA organizations. Make sure all sensitivities are considered. Coordinate editorial coverage of CUNA Strategic Services and its strategic alliance providers. Actively participate in industry conferences and events to cover for content or as a speaker representing BCP.
Supervise the editorial staff. Promote innovation and communication among staff and design team.
