TITLE:

Manager of Financial Support

DEPT:

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience plus 5 years experience to include knowledge of general accounting procedures and systems, preparation and analysis of financial statements and experience with non-profit and governmental accounting. Must have strong accounting knowledge, analytical skills, organizational skills, communication skills both verbal and written, interpersonal skills, and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word & Excel). Experience with Great Plains financial software (general ledger, accounts payable, FRx reporting tool, fixed assets) desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Through coordination with VP- Finance, this position serves as Financial Support Liaison for various CUNA departments, primarily DC located departments, along with several of the affiliated entities. Specific duties listed below:

  • Examine and interpret financial statements, prepare journal entries and adjusting entries as needed.
  • Prepare, advise and assist departments with their annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Review financial statements with departments to recommend and explain changes from budget as needed.
  • Provide financial analysis and decision making for CUNA departments and affiliated entities, as needed.
  • Review and approve accounts payable and travel expense reports for all departments/entities that this position is financial support liaison.
  • Prepare several working papers, financial statements, and serve as contact for external auditors.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for affiliate entities and review actual to budget results.
  • Prepare tax budgets for real estate taxes and personal property taxes, prepare returns and filings, and make electronic tax deposits.
  • Prepare and gather information for CUNA’s quarterly and semi-annual lobbying report filing.
  • Review and streamline accounting procedures to minimize distance issues between Madison and DC.
