Executive Management Team

JOANNE M. DUNCAN

Joanne Duncan is senior vice president and chief financial officer for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). In this position, Duncan directs all aspects of CUNA’s financial management, setting the fiscal strategy and implementation, managing corporate reporting and accountability, and providing guidance in business processes analysis. Additionally, she oversees the information technology department, ensuring that CUNA’s information technology infrastructure meets the association’s short- and long-term business strategies and demands.

Duncan, a certified public accountant (CPA), came to CUNA with nearly 20 years of accounting, managerial, and strategic planning experience in the nonprofit sector. Before joining CUNA, she was senior vice president of education programs, information technology, and strategic planning for America’s Health Insurance Plans, where she oversaw nondues revenue for the Washington, D.C.-based health insurance trade association.

Prior to joining America’s Heath Insurance plans in 2003, Duncan was senior vice president of finance and strategic services for the Health Insurance Association of America. She began there in 1985 as a bookkeeper before ensuing promotions to accounting supervisor, controller, and chief financial officer.

In addition to being a CPA, Duncan holds a master’s degree in taxation from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., and a bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va. She is also a Certified Association Executive (CAE), a national certification from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
