Executive Management Team

SUSAN E. NEWTON

Susan Newton is senior vice president of league relations for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). She also serves as executive director of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL).

These positions, combined under the office of the CUNA president, provide for maximum coordination of efforts between CUNA and all state credit union leagues in order to best represent the interests of the credit union movement across the United States.

Before joining CUNA in June 1997, Newton served as senior vice president of member services for the Texas Credit Union League. In this position, she provided management leadership over the league's trade association services.

Previous to this, she served as the league's vice president of planning and research, where she was instrumental in launching the league's Small Credit Union Development Department.

Prior to joining the Texas league, Newton worked for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as a market analyst.

She is also on CUNA's Cooperative Alliances Committee, which serves as the Credit Union System's liaison with the larger cooperative community in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas that foster mutually beneficial partnerships, alliances, and opportunities between credit unions and cooperatives.

Newton, a native of Batesville, Ark., is an alumnus of the University of Arkansas where she graduated with a degree in finance and banking.
