CUNA Councils: New Look And Big Presence At GACFebruary 27, 2008FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MADISON, Wis. – The CUNA Councils will showcase a new look and have a significant presence at the upcoming CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) – taking place March 2-6 at the landmark Washington Convention Center. The councils will sponsor a new kickoff event – a Sunday evening concert featuring the legendary band, America. The concert is an opportunity for attendees to network while enjoying America’s signature sound, which includes hits such as “A Horse With No Name,” “Sister Golden Hair,” “You Can Do Magic,” and “Ventura Highway.” Additionally, the councils will showcase their new look at GAC, which includes updated logos, graphics, and Web site features. According to David Rohn, vice president of the CUNA Councils, "The new designs reflect the progressive growth and professional nature of the organization and provide a better visual linkage among the individual management disciplines, reinforcing the fact that they’re part of a connected community of executives." “The credit union movement’s future depends on strong leadership and a continued presence on Capitol Hill,” said Nader Moghaddam, vice chair of the CUNA Council Forum and president and CEO of Financial Partners CU in Downey, Calif. “The CUNA Councils chose to sponsor a major GAC event because we recognize the importance of encouraging all credit union professionals to be politically engaged and demonstrate the strength and power of America’s 90 million members.” Since the first council began in 1994, credit union professionals from across the country have benefited from the networking and educational opportunities offered through the CUNA Councils. Today there are nearly 5,000 executives in the councils, which are focused on key credit union management areas, including: finance; human resources, training, and development; lending; marketing and business development; operations, sales, and service; and technology.
