PSCU Donates $100,000 to NCUF for CURA FundSeptember 25, 2001FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MADISON, WI The National Credit Union Foundation announced today that Payment Systems for Credit Unions, Inc. (PSCU) has made a donation of $100,000 to the Credit Unions Rebuild America Fund. "We're thrilled at PSCU's response to our plea for disaster relief funds," says Pat Brownell, Executive Director of the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF). "This not only demonstrates their support of thecredit union movement, it's also a clear demonstration of their humanity and organizational compassion for families of those lost. We are truly grateful." The Credit Unions Rebuild America (CURA) Fund is designed to support widespread, non-credit union specific relief efforts. Seventy-five percent of donations collected by CURA will be allocated to the Red Cross, which is focusing on immediate assistance such as food, shelter and medical care. The remaining twenty–five percent will be allocated to the September 11th Fund, which is developing long-term support such as mortgage payment assistance and relocation expenses. Since its September 20 launch, the CURA Fund has also received contributions totaling $16,600 from CUNA, the California Credit Union League and the Twin Cities Co-op Federal Credit Union. Donations for the fund will be accepted through Thanksgiving Day, November 22, 2001. Any financial support received after that date will be allocated to the NCUF’s General Disaster Relief Fund. Payment Systems for Credit Unions (PSCU) is a cooperative owned by more than 500 credit unions. Founded in 1977, PSCU is the nation's largest Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO). It provides its member-owner credit unions with a variety of technical and financial services, including processing for more than 6 million credit and debit cardholder accounts, online lending and banking, collections, fraud management, and strategic consultation and guidance.
