Build Better Leaders Through Communication During Upcoming eSchool

MADISON, Wis. – Credit union leaders and those aspiring to get there can enhance their leadership potential by honing their communication skills during an eSchool offered by CUNA.

The Building CU Leadership Through Communications eSchool meets Jan. 30 - Feb. 27 to focus on enhancing superior listening and communication skills. Topics for this five-session eSchool are:
Jan. 30 - The keys to engaging credit union communications
Feb. 6 - Developing relationships through staff communication
Feb. 13 - Building collaboration and cooperation with your team
Feb. 20 - Developing member service excellence
Feb. 27- Legendary credit union leadership

To help those without a background in finance to better understand their credit union’s numbers, the eight-session Financial Management eSchool: Part I is offered Jan. 15 - Feb. 28. While the main focus is on comprehending and analyzing financial statements, students will also come to better understand asset-liability management, budgets, ratios, investment policy, cost accounting, and pricing loans and deposits.

Compliance newbies can gain a solid understanding of key regulations in the credit union industry during the three-session Compliance Fundamentals eSchool, meeting Tuesdays from Feb. 5-19. The eSchool provides a comprehensive overview of more than 25 major regulations that impact credit unions along with the potential consequences for non-compliance.

Credit union lending professionals can learn how to use tax returns to analyze and qualify loan requests for members with non-traditional incomes during the three-session Using Tax Returns to Qualify a Loan eSchool. The Feb. 6-20 eSchool teaches participants how to analyze a variety of forms and schedules to obtain the relevant information as well as identify the information that borrowers hide and reveal in their own interest when applying for a loan.

An eSchool is a series of interactive classroom sessions that features live, real-time instruction from industry experts via the Internet and a telephone conference call. Students also have an opportunity to interact with the instructor and other participants through online chats and live discussion. Participants may register for specific webinars or the entire series of sessions as an eSchool.
