John Gallagher
John is the Vice President of Internal Audit with Northeast Credit Union (NECU), $1.5 billion state chartered, federally insured credit union headquartered in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He has more than 25 years’ experience in credit union internal auditing. He is a valued member of the executive leadership team, and also serves in a non-voting capacity of the credit union’s ERM Executive Committee, Compliance Committee and Information Security Steering Committee. He currently serves as the Board Vice Chair of the Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors (ACUIA), a national member organization which is a recognized leader of internal audit resources and education within the credit union industry. He has previously served as Board Chair, Treasurer, and Regional Director. John is the co-creator of the CUNA/ACUIA Credit Union Internal Auditor Certification Program and has been a program presenter/facilitator on a variety of topics since its inception. John received a bachelor’s degree in Finance from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York in 1986, and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Albany in 2017. He received the Credit Union Enterprise Risk Management Expert (CUERME) designation from CUNA in April 2015.
